I have been in Kaikoura for over 5 weeks, saving up some money and mainly relaxing. I actually did not do that much than hanging out with the people from my hostel at the beach or other places and just having fun and chilling out. But there is one other thing I did which is swimming with dolphins. That was totally worth it! There were so many dolphins and they came really close. It was a very nice experience and I am glad I did it. The water was quite cold but with the thick wetsuit, that was not really a problem and I did not realized how cold it actually was!
It was a really good idea to stay in Kaikoura and I am really glad I didn't go to Blenheim to look for work after what I have heard from some fellow travellers.
I have made a lot of friends in Kaikoura and despite the fact that I did not do that much every day, it was never really boring. The time in Kaikoura was the best time I had in New Zealand and it was really sad to leave this place. Anyway, I am looking forward to what other places the South Island has to offer and I hope I can meet some of the people again that I met in Kaikoura!
